Journey to the Podium
I recently received a commission 'Journey to the Podium', run by Essex County Council's 2012 Legacy Team, involving eight local and national artists. Each artist has been paired with a 2012 Olympian sportsman/woman, to create a piece of artwork which will tour the county in a series of exhibitions. I will be working with Alex O’Connell the UK’s British Fencing Champion and Shenfield High School.
This exciting project will help to build bridges between Art, Sport, Education and Business and hopefully shed some light on the excellence we can all be proud of. My sculpture will try to capture something of Alex’s lightening speed and agility: it will be carved in stone and stand as a lasting legacy to this moment in our history.
