November 06 Royal Academy of Music Tertis bust official presentation
I have also been experimenting with traditional bronze portraiture and with my latest portrait, the viola player Lionel Tertis (1876-1975) I have included a miniature portrait of his wife (my Godmother) within the scroll of the instrument, which is, itself set within his body. Thus his two most powerful passions are combined within the body of the man himself. The finished work has a dark classical patina with a high polish to the strings and wedding ring. This work has been accepted by the Royal Academy of Music to be permanently housed in the Strings gallery in York Gate.
